A selection of gear required for an average overnight trip into one of the UK's mountain ranges.

Having the correct gear is essential for a safe and enjoyable trip to any hill or mountain. Whilst you may not need everything listed, this should give a good idea of what the average walker will need in all but the most serious winter conditions (though I have included an additional kit-list for winter expeditions at the end of the list).

You may want to add to this list. There is no end of camping and hiking gadgets and accessories on the market and it would be impossible to list them all.

Click on the items to find out more about that particular piece of kit.
